A short History of Cheshire Marshals

The Cheshire Marshals steering group was set up in 2007 by a group of people who, for many years had been involved with organising Community events.

It was becoming apparent to these organisers that there was a common problem across the county; while these events were well organised there was lack of people to help ‘on the day’ i.e. people to steward car parks, road closures and crowd management etc.

How to stop traffic

After a long time in the planning, the first Training day was delivered at Astbury Mere Garden Centre in April 2010. Since then, there have been more training days, where we have recruited volunteer marshals. Following on from the trainings we have been able to send marshals to the far corners of Cheshire for many exciting events.

Training at Astbury Mere

Our Training strategy is currently under review and we are working towards offering a new programme of guidance and support to new volunteer marshals. Details will be announced in the near future.
